Wood chip fines are the smallest particle fraction produced during wood chipping operations. This material consists of sawdust, shavings, bark particles, and very small chips—typically less than ½ inch (12 mm) in size. Fines are lightweight, highly compactable, and moisture-absorbent, making them valuable in a range of agricultural, industrial, and environmental applications.
Wood chip fines are commonly used as bedding for livestock, particularly in poultry, dairy, and equine facilities, where their absorbency and softness improve comfort and hygiene. They also serve as an effective carbon source for composting, are used in soil amendment blending, and can be pelletized or briquetted for biomass fuel production. In some cases, fines are also used for dust control, landscaping mulch, or as a bulking agent in anaerobic digestion systems.
• Maximum particle size: ~½ inch (12 mm)
• Particle size distribution: Primarily fines and dust
• Moisture content: Typically, 25–55% (green)
• Source materials: Mixed hardwood and/or softwood
• Bulk density: 200–500 kg/m³ (varies with moisture and compaction)
Available loose in bulk by truck or container. Custom delivery options available. Sold by volume (m³) or weight (tonne).
GLOCK ecotech wood gasifiers are the result of many years of development and innovation. We present you a way of producing heat and green electricity self-sufficiently using only wood chips. This novel form of energy supply offers every customer efficiency and sustainability.
Despite these diverse developments, developments in fossil fuel systems almost entirely eliminated any wind turbine systems larger than supermicro size. In the early 1970s, however, anti-nuclear protests in Denmark spurred artisan mechanics to develop microturbines of 22 kW.
