CHP systems use biomass to generate electricity, and recover the waste heat for use in heating. These systems are attractive where electricity costs are high or electrical supply is unreliable, such as off-grid communities supplied by diesel generators. It may also be a useful adjunct in off-grid communities that are transitioning to other renewables like solar or wind.
